Every week, a new report highlights the importance of purpose at work. Companies with a clearly defined sense of purpose are more likely to successfully expand into a new market. Half of millennials say they would take a pay cut to find work that matches their values. And early evidence shows the Great Resignation is being driven in part by employees leaving to seek more meaningful (and flexible) careers.
Employees who have a chance to give to charities through their workplace are happier than those who do not, according to Harvard Business School research. And at least half of employees believe their employer should connect them with opportunities for charitable engagement, according to America’s Charities.
So how can your company put these insights to work in your rewards program?
Take action during a crisis
In times of crisis, including after natural disasters, you can offer an individual or team reward of a donation to a responding nonprofit. For example, you can feature GlobalGiving’s Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund to support civilians caught in the war and humanitarian crisis. Or highlight any of their active relief funds in response to disasters in many countries around the world.
Highlight your corporate values
Feature one or more of your company’s charitable partners and use it as an opportunity for employees to learn more about their work. You can also offer suggestions for employees to support them in an ongoing way.
Help champion their cause
Offer GlobalGiving eCards as an individual reward, giving each of your employees the opportunity to support the causes they care about most. Rest easy knowing that all 5,000+ available charitable projects in more than 160 countries on GlobalGiving.org support fully vetted nonprofits.
GlobalGiving is on a mission to accelerate community-led change around the world. Founded in 2002, GlobalGiving makes it possible for people and companies to support local projects in 170 countries. When your company purchases a charitable gift card as an employee reward, you’re making a US tax-deductible donation that can be redeemed for your recipient’s choice of 7,000+ charitable projects from vetted nonprofits.
