As employees expect more from their workplaces, more employers are infusing social impact into their reward options

Every week, a new report highlights the importance of purpose at work. Companies with a clearly defined sense of purpose are more likely to successfully expand into a new market. Half of millennials say they would take a pay cut to find work that matches their values. And early evidence shows the Great Resignation is being driven in part by employees leaving to seek more meaningful (and flexible) careers.

Employees who have a chance to give to charities through their workplace are happier than those who do not, according to Harvard Business School research. And at least half of employees believe their employer should connect them with opportunities for charitable engagement, according to America’s Charities.

So how can your company put these insights to work in your rewards program?

Take action during a crisis
In times of crisis, including after natural disasters, you can offer an individual or team reward of a donation to a responding nonprofit.
